In 2011, Southwest Airlines announced acquisition of Air Tran Airways.  As part of the acquisition, Southwest now has a fleet of 88 Boeing 717 aircraft.  Southwest Airlines is known for simplicity.  They've operated a very large fleet of 737s for years.  While not the first time that Southwest has operated an aircraft other than the 737, the 717 acquisition will be the first time that they've operated a second fleet in large numbers.

No AirTran Airways 717s have been converted yet.  News sources have said the first repaint of the 717 fleet will occur in late 2012.  Aim Higher Jets decided not to wait.  With meticulous research, we designed a Custom Model with the same Southwest Airlines livery along with a sticker that says "Operated by AirTran".
