It's coming! An Aim Higher Jets exclusive, this 1/100 Custom Travis AFB C-17 Mahogany Desktop Model is amazingly detailed. With a wingspan of 20" and a length of 21", this model is sure to be the centerpiece of any collection. It features the actual Travis AFB tailflash and paint scheme of tail number 66-154. This model is beautifully handpainted. No detail is overlooked. From the "Spirit of Solano" lettering above the crew entrance door to the AMC and reserve patches on the side of the aircraft. The stand itself is no less detailed. It features a carved and painted patch of the famed "BeeLiners" of the 21st Airlift Squadron. Perfection takes time. About the Boeing C-17A

The C-17 Globemaster III is the newest purpose-built cargo aircraft to enter the United States and western air forces. It is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in the deployment area. It is also capable of performing tactical aircraft, medical evacuation and airdrop missions.

In recent years the size and weight of U.S. mechanized firepower and equipment have grown, which has significantly increased air mobility requirements, particularly in the area of large or heavy outsize cargo. The C-17 can airlift such cargo close to a potential battle area.

About the Unit

This C-17 model is based on the aircraft flown by the 21st Airlift Squadron, part of the 60th Air Mobility Wing at Travis AFB, California. The squadron is the nation's newest C-17A unit in the United States.
