Model Info About the Actual Aircraft   Introducing the ready-built EA-18 Growler Desktop Model. This 1/48 scale model was handmade with precision and accuracy to produce the finest model that will be the centerpiece of your collection for years to come. This model is a perfect gift for pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike. Not too big or too small, this model features a wingspan of 11 inches and a length of 15 inches. This model features a very accurate paint scheme with realistic panel lines. The Boeing EA-18G Growler is a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft based on the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet. It began production in 2007 and is scheduled for fleet deployment in 2009. The EA-18G will serve as the United States Navy's replacement for the EA-6B Prowler, providing a capability to detect, identify, locate, and suppress hostile emitters. The Growler will perform full-spectrum electronic surveillance and electronic attack of enemy threat radars and communications nets. It is a highly flexible design that enables the war fighter to perform a broad range of tactical missions, operating from either the deck of an aircraft carrier or land-based fields. Since the EA-18G is a derivative of the F/A-18F, it is expected to significantly reduce support and training costs for the Navy.
