The Model

This is a 1/400 diecast scale model C-17A by GeminiJets. It features the tail number 55146 and the tail flash of Hickam AFB. The graphics are lasered on with the utmost care for accurate details. Each model features realistic landing gear and precise proportions for the most accurate small scale model possible. Display stands are available seperately.

The Aircraft

The C-17 Globemaster III is the newest purpose-built cargo aircraft to enter the United States and Western air forces. It is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in the deployment area. It is also capable of performing tactical airlift, medical evacuation and airdrop missions.

In recent years the size and weight of U.S. mechanized firepower and equipment have grown, which has significantly increased air mobility requirements, particularly in the area of large or heavy outsize cargo. The C-17 can airlift such cargo close to a potential battle area.

About the Unit

This C-17A model is based on an aircraft that is part of the 15th Airlift Wings at Hickam Air Force Base on Oahu, Hawaii. The C-17A unit was established on 19 August 2004. On 8 February 2006, the first C-17A, the "Spirit of Hawai'i-Ke Aloha" arrived at Hickam. The unit now has 8 aircraft based at Hickam and flying throughout the world in support of the Air Force mission.

Pre-Order Policy

GeminiMacs are a line of pre-made high quality diecast aircraft models that are 1/400 scale of the actual aircraft. The model size varies in size depending on the aircraft. Most aircraft are about the size of a coffee cup allowing collectors to have a large fleet displayed in a relatively small space like a desk or shelf. Every model is made using high quality diecast metal construction with extremely detailed paint schemes and landing gear. GeminiMacs are produced in limited quantities and are highly collectable. Total production runs for each model is between 1,000 and 2,000 pieces. Once they are sold out, the specific model is never produced again.
