About the Actual Aircraft

This Hobby Master 1/72 scale A-10 Warthog is superbly detailed. The model is made primarily of diecast metal construction with some plastic parts. It has extremely realistic paneling details as well as a canopy that opens and landing gear that can be displayed as either extended or retracted. This particular model is known as "The Playtime." The �Playtime� (78-0681) was flown by Captain Paul Johnson during �Operation Desert Storm� in early 1991. During Day 3 of the air war, Captain Johnson provided SAR cover for a downed US F-14 Tomcat crew for nearly 10 hours only 80 nautical miles from Baghdad . He was awarded the Air Force Cross and the aircraft is now displayed at the US Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio . The model comes with a display stand.
